Getting Started
Place your Singer 15-91 sewing machine on a stable surface and plug it into a power source. Ensure the presser foot is raised, and the needle is in the highest position by turning the handwheel towards you.
Insert a universal needle suitable for your fabric into the needle clamp, threading the eye from front to back. Secure the spool of thread on the spool pin at the top of the machine.
Winding the Bobbin
- Place an empty bobbin on the winder spindle.
- Guide the thread from the spool through the tension discs and onto the bobbin.
- Hold the thread end and press the foot pedal briefly to wind the bobbin evenly, stopping when it's three-quarters full.
Threading the Machine
Follow the threading path: pull thread from the spool down to the tension dial, then back up to the take-up lever, and down through the needle guides to the needle eye. Recheck for smooth threading.

Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case with the thread tail running counter-clockwise. Pull the thread under the tension spring until you hear a click.
Sewing Basics
- Set stitch length using the dial (start at 2.5 for straight stitches) and ensure the stitch selector is on "Straight".
- Place fabric under the presser foot, lower the foot lever, and hold both thread tails.
- Gently press the foot pedal to start sewing, guiding the fabric steadily without pushing or pulling.
- Backstitch at the beginning and end of seams by holding the reverse lever.
Troubleshooting Tips
For skipped stitches, rethread the needle and bobbin or replace the needle. If the thread breaks, adjust the tension dial incrementally—looser for heavy fabrics, tighter for light ones.
After sewing, raise the presser foot and needle, remove fabric, and clean lint from the bobbin area regularly.
